At Ringotel, we understand the importance of security when it comes to your business communications. That's why we have implemented comprehensive security measures to ensure that your VoIP communications are protected from unauthorized access, eavesdropping, and tampering. In this article, we will discuss the various security features that make Ringotel a secure and reliable choice for your business.
Encryption for Secure Communication
One of the key security measures at Ringotel is the use of encryption for all communication between endpoints and our infrastructure. This includes encryption of calls, messages, and files in transit and at rest.
We use industry-standard TLS (Transport Layer Security) version 1.2 or higher to ensure that the data is encrypted and authenticated and is not tampered with while in transit between the Ringotel applications and our infrastructure.
SRTP (Secure Real-time Transport Protocol) protocol is used to secure voice and video communications.
Industry-standard AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) 256-bit encryption is used to ensure that the users' data is secure at rest.
How to Enable TLS/SRTP Protocol in Ringotel Connection Settings
In addition, in order to ensure that your communication is secure, you can enable the TLS/SRTP protocol in the Ringotel connection settings. This will ensure that the SIP signalling and media traffic is secure all the way from the users' endpoints to your PBX and back.
What is TLS/SRTP Protocol?
TLS/SRTP stands for Transport Layer Security/Secure Real-time Transport Protocol. It is a combination of two protocols that work together to provide secure communication between two endpoints. TLS is used to secure the SIP signalling, while SRTP is used to secure the media traffic.
Enable TLS/SRTP Protocol in Ringotel Connection Settings
Follow these steps to enable the TLS/SRTP protocol in Ringotel connection settings:
Navigate to an organisation, then connection settings.
In the Protocol drop-down field, select SIPS (TLS/SRTP).
Important:
Please ensure that your PBX server has a valid TLS certificate (recommended). If not, you need to enable the "Do not verify server certificate" option, which is not recommended.
3. Click Save changes button to apply changes.
Now your communication between the Ringotel server and your PBX infrastructure will be secure.
On-Premise Deployment for Enhanced Compliance
For organizations with strict security and compliance requirements, Ringotel offers on-premise deployment options. This allows you to host the platform within your own infrastructure, giving you greater control over security settings, network configurations, and data storage. This is especially beneficial for businesses that need to comply with specific frameworks such as HIPAA or PCI DSS.
