In Ringotel, you have the flexibility to add multiple SIP accounts to a single user.

This allows them to handle calls on behalf of different PBX extensions. There are two methods for adding an additional SIP account to a user:

  1. "Attaching" a deactivated extension to an already activated user.

  2. Adding a new extension and automatically "attaching" it to an activated user.

With these options, you can easily manage and customize your users' calling capabilities in Ringotel.

How to configure

Attach deactivated extension to activated user.

To attach an extension to the existing activated user:

  1. Open a deactivated extension’s menu and select “Attach to user”

2. In the list of activated users, choose a user to whom you want to add an extension. Afterward, click Confirm.

Add new extension and attach to a user.

To add a new extension, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the activated user's menu by clicking on the three dots on the user's card.

  2. Select "Add extension" from the menu.

3. Specify the new extension's SIP credentials and click "Add Extension" to confirm.

If the credentials are valid, a deactivated extension will be created and automatically attached to an activated user.

Once an extension has been successfully attached, the activated user will have the added extension(s) shown in parentheses:

While making outgoing calls, users will be prompted to select the extension number they would like to call from.

You will see an error message if the extension cannot be attached to the user (e.g. SIP credentials are incorrect or there is a timeout).

Add extensions from a different domain

Customers who operate multiple business/companies require to make and receive calls from multiple extensions numbers connected to different domains/tenants. This can be easily achieved with Ringotel by utilising additional connections.

To create a new connection, navigate to an organisation, and click "+ Add connection".

Specify connection settings to a new domain/tenant as described in this article.

Once you create a new connection, add a new extension to an activated user by following these steps:

  1. Open the activated user's menu by clicking on the three dots on the user's card.

  2. Select "Add extension" from the menu.

3. In the "New extension" form, select the newly created connection in the drop down list.

Making calls with multiple connected extensions/numbers

When placing a call having multiple connected extensions, whether through the keypad or from the contact's profile, a pop-up will appear displaying extension options for that particular call.

It's important to remember that once an extension is selected for a call, your choice will be saved and automatically applied for future calls to this specific contact unless you manually input the number via the keypad or long-press on the call button (found in either the dialogue session or profile panel).
